Our Values

Since we started out with our first 12 temporary stores more than two decades ago, Calendar Club have gone through immense growth. Today, we are the UK's leading calendar retailer, with over 6,500 products available online and over 1,100 in our seasonal stores. With 70 permanent staff and over 200 stores opening across the UK and Ireland every year, it's safe to say our company is built on hard work, dedication and teamwork.

Environmental responsibility, gender equality, work culture and charity are just some of our core values at Calendar Club. We work tirelessly to reduce our environmental impact and in 2022, we signed up to SBTi. For many years, we have sponsored Guide Dog puppies and to date we have raised over £87,000 from collection boxes in our stores. Company Overview

Established in 1998, Calendar Club started out at a small premises on Water Lane in Exeter, with a small number of staff. Today, our current home is known as the Exe Box, a 12,000m2 storage facility, office complex and distribution centre on the outskirts of Exeter in Devon. The majority of permanent staff work from this location, with a team of Territory Managers out on the road, ready to provide help with store builds, health and safety issues and the general day-to-day administration of the business throughout the season.

Women in management

Women make up 43% of the permanent workforce at Calendar Club. We take gender equality seriously, and opportunities for pay and bonuses are equal between male and female staff. Women currently occupy 56% of the company's management positions, compared to 44% of men. We are lucky enough to have both a female and male director, which truly reflects our core values around gender equality.

Perks of working with us

In addition to some of the more standard work benefits, we offer our staff some additional perks. Everyone gets their birthday off (in addition to their annual leave), it's possible to purchase extra holiday if having more annual leave is important to you, and we offer all staff the option to take part in the cycle to work scheme. Many of our employees have families, and where possible, we also are flexible when it comes to personal commitments to allow for staff to attend events like school plays, even if they take place during the work day.

Our HR department are always looking at ways to improve well-being in the workplace and to promote a healthy work-life balance.

 

Our work culture

Our success is down to hard work and dedication, but that doesn't mean we don't have fun! The Calendar Club team are a close-knit bunch who enjoy socialising together. Each year, we have a huge summer party alongside our sister companies, Carousel Calendars and Otter House. This truly is the highlight of our year! Our parties have consisted of anything from boat trips to fancy dress festivities, including Western-themed and Hawaiian-themed events. The summer party is a great way to get everyone together before our season kicks off and things get really busy.

Other events we enjoy are our yearly Christmas gathering, bowling, charity runs and the occasional food and drink get-together after work.
