Helpdesk Administrator and Application Tester

Job Purpose

Calendar Club is Europe’s biggest and best calendar store, stocking over 4,000 calendars, diaries and gifts online and in store every year. Between October and January we have 200+ Calendar Club stores open over the UK and Ireland.

The Solutions department develops and maintains all the in-house applications and data reporting that is required in all aspects of the business including inventory control, store sales, EPOS and warehouse management. 

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a varied role that deals with all areas of the company. We are looking for someone to cover the helpdesk for the department, which will involve first line support for the company’s software applications (full training provided) and deal with day-to-day administrative tasks such as raising helpdesk tickets and writing test plans and user guides.

The job requires a balance of first-class communication, organisation and administration skills and the ability to multi-task. We are looking for a problem-solver with good attention to detail and a desire to get the job done well. A basic knowledge of software applications and a familiarity with Outlook, Excel, Teams and Word is essential but full training on application testing will be given. You will need to be able to work with other members of the department, but also have the ability to work autonomously and prioritise your workload to meet deadlines.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Helpdesk support for all in-house applications; answering emails and calls from software users
  • Monitor/update users with progress of reported helpdesk issues
  • Assigning tasks to other members of the department
  • Recording bugs and user requests on the department’s ticketing software
  • Application testing
  • Excel report maintenance
  • EPOS support for our stores
  • Create and update user guides, release notes and test plans
  • Help with application fault finding
  • Install and update applications on PCs
  • Set up new users
  • Provide administrative support to the Solutions Department

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Good understanding of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Teams and Excel.

Desirable

  • Application support experience
  • Knowledge of Ecommerce websites
  • Microsoft SQL database knowledge

  • Must be willing to be flexible to suit the businesses requirements from day to day
  • Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Should be able to plan their own time to meet deadlines
  • Eager to learn new skills
  • Have a good attention to detail
  • Must be a team player
  • Should be adaptable and able to work in a busy environment with a varied workload
